Perbál – 2013

Children’s Home

„The idea of the Perbál Children’s Home was born when the parents’ community was looking for alternatives for the care of disabled children. The multifunctional building complex was created party by the reconstruction of a baroque mill, and to a greater extent based on the plans of the architects Péter Janesch and Tamás Kará-csony. The plans were created in cooperation with the parents’ community and the Transylvanian couple responsible for the economic management of the farm. The building process was carried out step by step, in a similarly cooperative way.

…Since 2009 with the help of Péter Janesch and Tibor  Gerzsenyi, Tamás Karácsony and Balász Kemes have been organising architect camps in the children’s home. Following the improvement works of the recent years (the building of pavements, ramps; the modernization of the roof, the construction of a bridge and stairs) from next year on the communal plans will take a different direction.

The dialogue which has been initiated in the past few years is a true example for architects and users (nurses) as well.”

A quotation from the curator’s concept created for the Hungarian Pavilion of the 13th Venice Biennale, entitled CommON_Built Community.
