We consider it important for the participants to rediscover the pleasure of building and creation, to become acquainted with the traditional working methods. The goal of the one week manual labour is that the participants should familiarize themselves with the traditional architectural procedures and techniques.
We also take into consideration that, in the long run, the buil-dings should be useful for the local communities.
Similarly to the former camp, the students of architecture could get admission to the study trip lead by the architects of the Creative Workshop of Debrecen, by applying for the project.
Every morning we discussed the tasks for the day. Turning the generator on signalled that a new day had just began. The builders formed groups, so several types of works could be done simultaneously. The foundation was prepared in advance by the local people, for us to be able to focus exclusively on the wooden structure. First the framing and the trussing structures were created, then the trellis and, finally, the corn cobs found their place in the building.
The villagers stopped and called on us from time to time; they were interested in how we progressed with the work. Their curiosity accompanied the building process by the open gates, and, just like in folk tales, the news was transmitted orally. These few minute visits and short discussions served as good opportunities to make contacts.
